Confidential polygraph testing in Newcastle

The Newcastle examination office is 116 Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DY — in the Ouseburn ward of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Nearest station is Manors, about a 7 minute walk. Also within reach: Manors (about a 7 minute walk) and Monument (about a 13 minute walk). If one line is disrupted the others are genuinely usable alternatives, which is worth knowing on a day you cannot be late.

Parking: BALTIC Car Park, about a 3 minute walk (paid, surface), The Quays Multi Storey Car Park, about a 5 minute walk and Argyle Street Car Park, about a 6 minute walk (paid, surface), and 83 public car parks in total within half a mile.

If you would rather not attend somewhere you might be recognised, Sunderland is 8 miles away and runs the same examination, as do Durham (13 miles) and Darlington (31 miles). Nobody is told which office you chose, or why.

For Sunderland (8 miles), this is the closest office we run.

Newcastle · common questions

The questions people actually ask us

How accurate is a lie detector test?

A validated technique, run properly by an accredited examiner, sits at 95–98%. Anyone quoting 100% is selling you something else.

Does being nervous affect the result?

No. Nervousness is expected and shows up on every chart. The analysis compares your responses against each other, not against a calm stranger.

What questions will be asked?

Up to three relevant questions, agreed with you in the pre-test consultation. Nothing is asked on the day that you have not already seen.

Can I refuse to take the test?

Yes, at any point, including once you are in the room. An examination in the UK cannot proceed without your written consent.

How long does the test take?

Around two hours in total. Most of that is the consultation and question review; the instrument phase is the shortest part.

Can I attend someone else’s test?

No — a third party in the room invalidates the examination. You are welcome to wait in reception and to see the written report if the examinee consents.

Do you offer home or on-site tests?

Tests are normally conducted at our private office in Newcastle, where the environment can be controlled. Alternative locations may be possible subject to pre-approval.

Do you test under 18s?

Only in limited circumstances, with the written consent of a parent or guardian, and at the examiner’s discretion. Please call to discuss before booking.

Do medications affect the results?

Tell your examiner what you take. Most prescriptions are fine; a few are not, and your examiner will say so before you pay the balance.

Can the test be cheated?

Countermeasures are what examiners are trained to spot. Attempting them typically produces an inconclusive result, not a pass.

How much does a lie detector test cost in Newcastle?

£495 all inclusive for one person and £695 for a couple, covering the consultation, the examination and a written report. A £150 deposit reserves the appointment.

Where exactly is the Newcastle office?

116 Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DY. It is a private office, not a clinic or a shopfront, and there is no signage announcing why anyone is there. You give your name at reception and nothing else.

How do I get to the Newcastle office by train?

Manors station, about 7 min walk. Allow a little longer than you think — arriving in a rush is the one thing within your control that makes the first half hour harder than it needs to be.

Where can I park in Newcastle?

Public parking nearby: BALTIC Car Park and The Quays Multi Storey Car Park. There is no dedicated client parking at the office itself, so allow time to find a space rather than counting on one outside.

Which areas does the Newcastle office cover?

People travel to Newcastle from across the surrounding area. The nearest other offices are Sunderland (8 miles), Durham (13 miles), Darlington (31 miles), Middlesbrough (31 miles) — so if another is closer to you, book that one instead.

What if I would rather not be seen locally?

Book a different office. The nearest alternative to Newcastle is Sunderland (8 miles), and you are welcome to use it instead — no explanation is needed and nobody is told which office you chose or why. Discretion is a reason we hear often enough that it is worth saying plainly.
